The Process

The Experience

Through diagnositc assessments and a series of engaging lessons on line your child will acquire a love for reading.

Getting to know your child and administering assessments

Making a connection with the child is important before beginning any kind of assessment. After your child feels comfortable with me I administer assessment to discover what your child knows and where the gaps are in his learning.

Analyze your child's responses and target the need.

Many children come to with gaps or holes in their reading. Teachers say to them you're reading to slow or to choppy. Students believe they are not good readers or that they can't read. Most children can read. My job is to find what it is they can not read and target that need.

Design a series of lessons based on your child's need.

Once I find target the need or find the gap in their learning, I design engaging lessons that are scaffolded specifically for their need. This keeps the child not only engaged but motivated in their learning.

Execute the lessons

The lessons are designed for 20 to 25 minute interactions with your child. Depending the need of your child the lesson will include phonological and or phonics direct instruction scaffolds. I informally assess your child during every lesson to make adjustments to future lessons.

Formally re-assess your child and monitor progress

I assess your child every two weeks to formally check for progress and growth. I use this data to create a child friendly graph. I use the graph to go over child's progress. The child will then create new goals for his learning.
