About Me

My Experience

Teaching in the public-school setting has been a passion for over 20 years. The second half of my career I have been able to focus on early literacy and intervention for struggling readers. I established and ran Learning Centers at different schools, pinpointing student needs through the regular use of diagnostic reading assessments and developing targeted lessons to address those needs.  Regularly sharing progress with students and their families contributes to my students’ transformation and motivation to learn.

When I earned my multiple-subject teaching credential in 1999, I never imagined that I would be in the place that I am now.

I have established Learning Centers at several schools that have served as models for other schools. I also have created and provided school-wide Professional Development modules focusing on Reading Foundational Skills.

My Passion

Children often come to my Learning Center quite defeated, proclaiming “I can’t read.” Sadly, they come to internalize it as a fact. We – the students and I – are able to turn that “fact” into fiction. Within a few weeks, the children have not only improved their reading, but their confidence as well. The transformation is heart-warming, and I absolutely LOVE what I do!
